Tween/Teen Sewing Night Upcycled Men's Dress Shirt Hack Class (Beginner - Sewing)

Are your tweens or teens interested in sewing? Do they stumble across reels of cool sewing hacks and want to give them a try? Do they just need a night out so you can have a few hours of quiet? Well we have just the thing, our new Tweens and Teens Night out class. These classes will feature some easy social media inspired sewing hacks and upcycles. 

Our first Tween and Teen night out will feature an upcycle where we will create a cute little summer baby doll top from a thrifted dress shirt. 

This class has no prerequisites, just come on out and have fun! 

In this class you learn:

  • How to operate a sewing machine
  • How to sew straight and lines
  • How to finish raw edges
  • How to create ties
  • How to make an elastic channel
  • How to make a gathered ruffle

You will need: 

  • A thrifted mens dress shirt, it should be slightly oversized
    OR
  • Fabric: consider chambray, linen, lawn, voile or cotton shirting with some drape.
    • For 45” wide fabric, 1.5m approximately
      For 54” wide fabric, 1m approximately 
  • Matching thread 
  • 1.5m of narrow elastic elastic like ¼” or ⅜” or 1 cm

We will provide: 

  • a sewing machine for in-class use
  • sewing tools for in-class use
  • A link to the tutorial
